Stop Euthanizing Harmless Coyotes

The Issue

Huntington Beach is in the middle of a coyote crisis. As more of the beach is developed, coyotes are losing their natural habitat and food sources. With their territory dwindling, they’re now coming into more frequent contact with local residents and their pets. Last year alone, there were over 478 coyotes sightings.

At first, residents were trained on how to co-exist; however this was not deemed proactive enough and many asked city officials to crack down. Now, these coyotes are captured and euthanized. As Huntington Beach continues to develop, more and more of their natural surroundings will disappear and we need a permanent, humane solution: a coyote sanctuary.

It’s time for the local government to help these now homeless animals instead of trapping and killing them.

Join me in asking the Huntington Beach city officials and state government to designate a coyote sanctuary outside of the city where trapped coyotes can live in peace.
