The Issue

I'm a prospective user of a mobility car, physically disabled and heavily reliant on such transportation for my day-to-day activities. Recently, I learned about proposed new regulations that aim to limit the continuous usage of mobility cars to just an hour, followed by a mandatory 10-minute break. These regulations specifically target disabled individuals who use mobility cars, and I strongly believe this is discriminatory.

One of my significant concerns is about safety. These imposed breaks may force individuals to stop under dangerous circumstances, such as pulling over on a motorway with no hard shoulders or stopping in regions that could be unsafe. Furthermore, people with medical conditions like urinary or bowel problems might be put in uncomfortable and undignified positions if they are forced to stop every hour without an appropriate reason.

It's unjust to single out disabled people with these irrational constraints. All individuals, whether disabled or not, should have the freedom and discretion to drive safely according to their personal needs and the traffic conditions. The proposed regulations fail to consider the genuine realities of those who depend on mobility cars for transport and could ultimately endanger the very people they should be helping.

We are asking the regulatory bodies to reconsider these ill-thought-out regulations regarding mobility car usage. We propose instead that any measures introduced should focus on support and optional safety evaluations rather than mandatory restrictions that could potentially endanger lives.

Let's stand together to protect the rights and freedoms of disabled individuals who rely on mobility cars for their independence. Join me in demanding inclusive and reasonable transportation policies. Sign this petition to urge the responsible authorities to abolish these discriminatory regulations and prioritize the safety and dignity of disabled mobility car users everywhere.
