Stop Derby's Assembly Rooms plan before they waste £60m of taxpayer cash

Stop Derby's Assembly Rooms plan before they waste £60m of taxpayer cash
The Issue
The Derby Telegraph and Derbyshire Live are joining key voices to demand that the city council scraps its plans for the Assembly Rooms and Market Place.
These plans, set to cost the taxpayer £60 million, with a further £40 million from private investors, have been widely slammed, and we fear it will almost certainly end up as a huge waste of our hard-earned money.
We must stop the creation of this bottomless money pit and go back to the drawing board.
The main aspects of Derby City Council's plans are:
- A cultural and commercial hub, including a 400-capacity music venue, to replace the Assembly Rooms (Derby MADE)
- A business-class hotel (Derby Hotel)
- A Grade-A office (Derby Works)
Almost everyone we have spoken to is against these plans. From the chair of Derby Civic Society to the owner of the Hairy Dog, and many in between, we all know that this is not the way forward.
Sign our petition and demand that the council listens to common sense. We will fight for you.
