I'm a proud resident of Melton and I, coincidentally, also work in tech. I know what data centres are, and I know what they do to communities that host them - and I'm asking you to reject the proposal to build them here.

 Data centres consume enormous amounts of electricity and water, strain local grids, and push up utility costs for residents. They dump heat into the environment, run loud cooling systems 24/7, and bring heavy commercial traffic - all while creating almost no local jobs, since they're largely automated and
 staffed by specialists flown in.

 This isn't industrial land. It's our home. Putting data centres in a residential area will degrade our quality of life, harm the local environment, and permanently alter the character of Melton- for no benefit to the people who actually live here.

 I urge Melton Council and the State Government to redirect these developments to less populated areas where the impact belongs. Please sign this petition to protect our community.
