Stop Conversion Therapy on LGBTQ+ Kids — the Supreme Court Just Made It Harder to Ban
The Issue
On March 31, 2026, the Supreme Court ruled in Chiles v. Salazar that a state can't easily stop a licensed therapist from putting an LGBTQ+ kid through conversion talk therapy — treating it as protected speech and sending the case back to the lower courts. In one decision, the Court punched a hole in the state laws that had been protecting young people, and left the door wide open for these practices to keep happening.
Conversion therapy is not real medicine. These practices try to change who a person is — their sexual orientation or gender identity — and there is no credible evidence they work. What they do produce is documented harm: depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, shame, and broken families. I know how much it means to be accepted for who you are. No kid should be handed over to someone who tells them, with a license on the wall, that the answer is to stop being LGBTQ+. That isn't therapy. It's fraud, and now the highest court in the country has made it harder to stop.
Here's the part that matters: the Court closed off the states, but Congress can still act. The Therapeutic Fraud Prevention Act of 2025 (S.1663 in the Senate, H.R.3243 in the House) would treat commercial conversion therapy as the deceptive, fraudulent practice it is and let the FTC and state attorneys general shut it down. Both bills are sitting in committee right now, going nowhere unless we make noise.
We demand that Congress move the Therapeutic Fraud Prevention Act to a vote and pass it — protecting minors and adults from coercive, deceptive practices sold as legitimate care, and keeping mental-health treatment evidence-based and respectful of who people are. Sign now and share this so Congress can't pretend the Supreme Court's decision was the end of the story. It's not. Protect LGBTQ+ people. Reject conversion therapy. End this harmful practice nationwide.
No child should have to endure the practices that they teach to claim you’re straight now because at the end you’re still who you are. A person that was over the biggest Conversion Therapy convention has even said it was a lie and he still says he is bi. The point is it doesn’t work and causes harm it should be banned hunnies.
