Games lose developer support after a while. That is unavoidable. Eventually, the developer will shut down even the most prominent game servers. NBA 2k21 shut down just last December. NHL 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 lost online play support in June. Spellbreak shut down its servers in January. EchoVR, a game still played TO THIS DAY by tens of thousands of people daily, is getting its servers shut down on August 1st. NERF: Ultimate Championship is barely six months old, and the developers will kill it the same day as EchoVR. The heavy online aspect of these games makes them completely unplayable without the servers online. 

We can change that! If we get enough support, we can pass a law in as many states as possible (possibly even the federal government, if we get enough support!), forcing companies to release the server software in some form for any online functionality they will no longer be supporting, so that anyone can host a private or public server, keeping these games playable forever! Look at Team Fortress 2, a game with basically no support or content updates for over ten years, which still gets 20,000 players daily because people can host servers!

We need to pass this quickly so as many games as possible will be required to have their server software available. The longer we wait, the more games will be lost forever due to servers that no longer exist! Sign this petition!! We can do this!!
