Stop Catholic Schools Broken Bay from requring schools to allow Jason Evert to speak
The issue
UPDATE
Thank you for all the support, but the talk went ahead as scheduled unfortunately.
Jason Evert is known for his talk 'Love or Lust', and the foundation they started together, known as the Chastity Project.
However uncontroversial they may seem, they are extremely problematic.
They hold views directly at odds with the values of the individual CSBB schools, such as the discriminatory view they hold against all LGBT individuals.
These views include:
- Believing that homosexuality is a choice - and can be 'solved'
- Believing that trans people are misinformed and are being coerced by society into choosing to transition.
- Believing that abortion is never the correct option, even in instances of rape - and believing that this ideal should be instituted into law.
As such, these people should not be allowed to speak - whether it is optional or not - as even in the case that it is optional, some students may still be misinformed about this information and may be propagandised by them.
This is especially the case when it comes to the younger students at CSBB schools, who will be subject to the talk without the adequate ability to come to an independent conclusion rather than taking the talk with a grain of salt.
Students at St Joseph's Gosford have also come to this conclusion, and you can support them at: https://www.change.org/p/jason-evert-should-not-come-to-diocese-of-broken-bay-schools
Students at Mackillop College Warnervale have also made a petition here: https://www.change.org/p/jason-evert-should-not-come-to-mackillop
