The Issue

We, the residents of Mmanoko village, are deeply concerned and heartbroken by the ongoing discrimination and exploitation we suffer at the hands of public transport operators, particularly Sprinter buses who consistently exclude our community, despite using the A12 road that passes directly through our village.

Every day, young mothers, students, and workers are left stranded at the Gaborone Bus Rank, forced to queue for long hours in the hope that a driver will have enough compassion to pick them up. Often, are forced to pay full fare to Molepolole, for them to be dropped at Mmanoko, a practice that is both unfair and exploitative.

From Molepolole to Gaborone, our people are forced to stand in overcrowded buses, while seats are reserved for passengers boarding at later stops. Is this justice? Are we not citizens of this country like everyone else? Why are we being treated as outsiders in our own village, along a road that belongs to all of us?

This is no longer just a transport issue, this is a matter of dignity, fairness, and human decency. These buses earn a living from passengers travelling along the A12 road, yet they deliberately refuse to serve our village.

We will not remain silent.

We now call upon the Department of Road Transport and Safety, relevant Ministry officials, and our respected Kgosi to act decisively. We demand the enforcement of passenger rights, the regulation of public transport services, and fair treatment for all commuters.

Let Mmanoko be served like any other village. This petition speaks not only for the people of today, but for the dignity and rights of the generations to come.
