Each day millions of tax-payer's dollars are spent on junk food items by SNAP benefits (food stamp) recipients.  WIC (Women-Infant-Children) has for years required only healthy food options with its vouchers--there is no reason the US Department of Agriculture cannot require the same thing for purchases with SNAP benefits. Items that may be purchased with the card are already limited to exclude things like alcohol and tobacco, which means it is possible to further pare down the list to omit things such as soda pop, candy, donughts and other unhealthy items. While you're at it, why not allow the purchase of toothpaste? As a taxpayer, I'm o.k with that.
