How long will we stay silent while technology enables harassment at scale?

Recently, XAI/X/Grok released functionality that allows any user to upload a photo of anyone — man, woman, or child — and generate sexualized images using a simple text prompt, such as:

“Put her in a bikini”
“Remove her clothes”
“Now put her in a confederate flag bikini”
“Spread her legs”
Within a week of this release, thousands of people, primarily women and children, were targeted, and hundreds of thousands of images were distributed without consent, including images of minors. This technology puts everyone at risk, even if you are not a user — anyone’s photo could be manipulated and shared without permission.

We call on:

• XAI/X leadership to completely remove or disable this functionality. Limiting it to paid users does not solve the problem — it merely monetizes sexual harassment. The company must take full accountability for the harm caused.
• Governments worldwide to pass enforceable regulations against AI misuse and non-consensual sexual content.
• Public transparency from AI companies, detailing misuse reports, complaints, and mitigation measures.
• Heavy penalties for companies that fail to prevent the distribution of sexualized content without consent.
• Advertisers to pause sponsorships of AI platforms until these protections are implemented.

We cannot allow AI to become a tool of harassment and abuse. Every person deserves the right to privacy and safety, whether online or offline.
