We the people of Texas are paying Centerpoint to provide a service: to be an electricity provider. Now when we are in need of help, thousands of contractors have come from out of state to assist in the restoration of power to especially those who are in need. As of now, there are still over a million people who continue to go without power and those out of state contractors are sitting around unable to work because Centerpoint refuses to pay them. As of July 11th, 2024, two people have died and over 200 have gone ill from carbon monoxide poisoning created by generators being used to power their homes. An elderly woman with oxygen deficiency has also passed away due to lack of power to run her oxygen machine. With the additional man-power, Centerpoint should be able to expediently restore power to those who still don’t have it, but those in charge of the company are refusing to pay the thousands of technicians that have come to help. Centerpoint must be held responsible. We the people of the State of Texas, hereby demand that the State of Texas initiate a lawsuit against Centerpoint for corruption and damages to those affected by this complacency. An investigation of corruption must be launched against the executives of Centerpoint, and charged if proven guilty of such.
