I am 22 and I have 3000$ just in bills. I already work a full time job and I pick up side jobs just to pay my bills. I can’t afford anything. I can’t go have fun, I can I’ll all the time. I can’t keep doing this!!
I’m in Posey county and we are affected by this rate hike as well. We are all already struggling. My bill went from $278 last month to $719 this month. Add another $50 and I just can’t keep sustaining my household!
I used $90 in gas usage and that $90 cost me $268 with the distribution fee. Centerpoint is making us choose between keeping lights on or eating or paying for medical bills or anything else. We are the highest with utilities and the ceo made millions last year and needs more money i guess. When Kentucky that is just across the bridge can have utilities dirt cheap why can't we have cheaper than they are? Why do they keep having to raise rates?
Just lost a very close friend of mine to cancer. He was cut short because he couldn’t afford his electric bill and his electricity got cut off. Tried to make it with a small generator because he was on oxygen. Centerpoint needs to be more about the customer and consumer rather than the bottom line of their dollar and bonuses.
A company should not be making billions and still ask for more. After all expenses paid centerpoint made between 6&9 billion in most of the years since 2010. https://m.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/CNP/centerpoint-energy/revenue#:~:text=CenterPoint%20Energy%20annual%20revenue%20for,a%2012.59%25%20increase%20from%202020.
We keep our house temp set at 55 during the winter just enough to keep my pipes from freezing. My bill was over $400. Its normally $300 so a 33% increase is just beyond me. Every time we as a community start to break even we get shoved farther and farther back. The Houston market recently received a decrease in their bill I do not think that we in Evansville or any where else should have to make up for that 50 million Centerpoint profit loss. To many of us its the difference between heat and food.
I volunteer at a food pantry and we have had a record year. People can't even afford food let alone another rate hike from center point. It seems as if our current elected officials don't care about the people they represent. If they refuse to work for us then we shouldn't vote for them.
I can’t afford to donate, have utility bills to pay. Keep heat set on 64 during the day, 60 at night. Air is 78 and 73. Cannot go any lower. Fixed income, pay over 10%of it to Center Point. Next step is to move out of state
Some people's center point bills are more than a mortgage. I personally know people who have already had their heat shut off and are afraid of having their kids taken away, simply because they can not afford to pay their electric bill anymore. Many people are choosing between food & medicine or their center point bill. Something has got to give.
No matter how many energy saving tips I use my bill is still ridiculously high. I use all energy saving lightbulbs my refrigerator and tvs or energy saving appliances/devices. I only do laundry on off peak hours and we rarely have on the lights. My heat is on 68 at night and 70 in the day which still is kinda chilly. My house has been winterized also. There is nothing more that I can do to save more energy… The fact that I do all of these things and my bill is STILL higher then my rent is insane. The continued rate hikes when the rates are already to high is no more than price gouging and taking a fat advantage of the fact that there’s no competing energy company. There’s always some excuse of new work that’s being done that we must put the bill for. Enough is enough with the people of Indiana cannot afford these continued Right hikes. We can’t afford them now. When will enough be enough because right now it doesn’t seem like there’s an end. People can’t keep affording this what’s gonna happen is we will be forced to move.
