On August 21, 2000, Leroy Blanding Jr., was being transported from Greensboro, NC to Sumter, SC by two officers but he never made it.  Leroy Jr., was handcuffed (connected to a belly chain around his waist) and shackled around his ankles. It is alleged that Leroy Jr., grabbed pepper spray from the officer riding in the back seat with him and sprayed him, jumped out of the car and ran across the street into a wooded area. Allegedly, he was found face down dead, with his hands & feet still shackled.  Alleged cause of death a heart attack. Richland County Sheriff Department was called to conduct an investigation. 

We feel nothing about the alleged incident makes sense.  The family has too many unanswered questions. We believe there was foul play involved  and is requesting that Attorney General Alan Wilson of South Carolina re-investigate this case. The family, the citizens of South Carolina and the American people across the country would like to know what really happened to Leroy Blanding Jr.
