Simplify UBL process for Xiaomi HyperOS

Simplify UBL process for Xiaomi HyperOS
The Issue
In recent updates, Xiaomi’s transition from MIUI to HyperOS has significantly restricted the bootloader unlocking (UBL) process, creating unnecessary barriers for users who value transparency, device ownership, and responsible customization. Under HyperOS, users are now required to rely on Mi Community to request bootloader unlocking, a system that is frequently affected by quota limitations, regional inconsistencies, and unpredictable approval availability. As a result, many legitimate users are unable to unlock their devices even when they fully comply with all stated requirements.
For many users, including myself, the ability to unlock the bootloader is not about piracy or misuse, but about learning, development, repair, performance optimization, and long term device sustainability. Xiaomi has historically been a brand that supported enthusiast communities, developers, and technically inclined users. The previous MIUI unlock process was clearer, more stable, and more respectful of user intent, allowing device owners to exercise reasonable control over hardware they legally purchased.
This issue is deeply personal to me, as bootloader unlocking was one of the primary reasons I chose a Xiaomi device. My device is not only a daily smartphone, but also a learning platform for system level exploration and technical education. The increased restrictions imposed by HyperOS undermine this use case and make the device less valuable to users who rely on openness and flexibility.
If no action is taken to simplify or revert the HyperOS bootloader unlocking process to a method comparable to MIUI, many users may feel forced to abandon the Xiaomi ecosystem entirely in favor of brands that offer clearer and more accessible unlocking policies, such as Google Pixel devices. This petition exists to respectfully request Xiaomi to reconsider its current approach, restore a fair and transparent UBL process, and continue supporting the community that helped build Xiaomi’s reputation as a user friendly and developer welcoming
brand.
