They have not considered poor people who cannot afford expensive contracts and tv is their lifeline and especially if they are disabled this is very unkind
It’s important to recognise that Freeview Tv is still widely used. Not every older person has either access to the internet nor the help of a family member to help navigate it. My aunt when she was alive struggled with the Freeview channels and couldn’t comprehend how the internet/mobile phones worked .
I am 81 with disabilities and struggle to understand the fast paced, ever changing world of technology. I receive pension credit and struggle to pay my energy bills and eat good food. Losing Freeview would be cruel and thoughtless for many people like me
I have been using pinterest for years to look for inspiration for my art, baking business, and my fashion. Many of my friends and family also use Pinterest for its vast collection of ideas created by the creative minds of people, humans. The use of AI is killing our planet as we speak, in 2025 alone, AI used between 312.5 and 764.6 billion liters of water. Please keep Pinterest powered by the people.
I have been using Pinterest since I was probably 12 years old. For years I have carefully curated boards with photos of my own, and others for inspiration or ideas. I have a recipe board, a craft board, the point is I use this every day to collate ideas from the world and inspire myself to be creative and organise my life! It’s such a great place to browse without rotting your brain and it’s customised to each user. You can personalise your Home Screen and it’s so great because Pinterest is what it is because of all the users that create things to publish on it. Sure maybe OpenAI will plan not to change the way it works, but we don’t want them to have access to our data. We don’t want them to allow the infiltration of mass amounts of Ai generated content on here. Pinterest is supposed to be a network of human creativity and design. Somewhere where you can search a wonderful brain full of people’s photos, recipes, art, etc. WE DO NOT WANT OPEN AI ANYWHERE NEAR IT
if openAI really does purchase pinterest, i’ll be leaving the app with no hesitation. i’ve been on pinterest for almost 8 years, and i consider it my safe side of the internet. pinterest holds a special place in all our hearts, because it’s real. it’s real people sharing real photos and gathering new ideas. it’s inspiring and community-based. i’ve already report and hide any generative AI photos that come up on my feed, because there is no reason for such slop to even be posted. if this app is stripped of it’s authenticity and is forced to be another soulless app with no real depth because it’s all intertwined with AI features and AI posts, i may as well switch back to tumblr and flickr. good riddance.
