Shut Down FlashThemes

The issue

FlashThemes

We will tell you why FlashThemes needs to shut down

  1. It needs Adobe Flash Player (CleanFlash is recommended) to run FlashThemes despite the fact that Flash Player has been retired on December 31, 2020. Also, it needs a Chromium web browser (version 67 for Windows, version 87 for Mac OS and version 83 for Linux), Waterfox Classic, Pale Moon or an older version of Google Chrome (not later than version 87). It's likely to work but it will crash many times and launch sometimes the ActionScript 3.0 and ActionScript 2.0 is fully supported but, ActionScript 3.0 is almost supported and is in development and you can just use Ruffle emulator since Adobe Flash Player is fully blocked.
  2. It requires that you have enough FlashTokens to export the video to the MP4 format. And if you export a video, the amount of FlashTokens needed to export the video is based on how long the video is. This means that you're forced to use a screen recorder which lags the video to a crawl, or you have to create multiple FlashThemes accounts (if you can't get any more FlashTokens), which will make you have to create your characters over and over again which will get annoying fast. Despite this, the video export itself lags to a crawl as well. In fact you can just render the video yourself by using a unwatermarked screen recorder and have a good PC. Thankfully, as of March 2024, the cost to export the video became cheaper by 75%.
  3. Continuing the WINF#3, publishing custom assets requires user to pay 10 FlashTokens. And even if the user does upload custom assets, the users don't even use them at all. That just proves that the people on there are lazy. Also much like Roblox, users can suddenly raise the price of the asset, in which confuses the users who wanted to buy it. As there's no description to why the asset now costs that much. As a result, some asset thieves that downloaded the assets using the now patched exploit, will reupload the asset for a much lower cost. If a user who uploaded the assets were to be banned, the assets would be deleted off their servers and shop, and the user who bought said assets would not be refunded.
  4. The old video maker's uploading functions are broken, as it will instead log you out of your account instead of properly uploading the props.
  5. Additionally the old video players from those periods are not available, resulting in the old video makers to show the new video player instead.
  6. The moderation on the site is very poor, as most of the moderators are extremely rude and will ban you for little to no reason. Most of the time, these bans are said to be done over "a misunderstanding" but it doesn't excuse the poor moderation. This is mostly due to the community hiring those who have no experience with customer service.
  7. Along with that, the appeal system is terrible. Once you are banned, you cannot get unbanned. (Unless the moderators falsely banned the user, and realized their error) Making the appeal system useless.
  8. The "Animator of the month" rank is impossible to get, even if you try to make your animations good as possible, some low-effort animators will usually get the rank instead. This is mostly due to the Vyond communities' favoritism.
  9. Just like Scratch, it lacks a blocking feature so you can't block people who are antagonizing you. There's not even a way to delete comments except for your own, meaning drama comments by the community will stay on the site, unless you delete or private the video.
  10. Their reporting system is broken, and there's a blacklist where the admins added certain users so they are allowed to break rules on their site, African Vulture being one of them. Sometimes the reporting feature will be disabled for your account after you report enough content that breaks the rules, which is terrible for people who reported the content that actually broke their rules.
  11. Despite being based on the 2011 GoAnimate, it has no forums. As a result people instead have to rely on the Discord server and make videos about drama or experiences.
  12. Before it was eventually patched in November 2023, there used to be a exploit in the video maker where people could be able to download assets that are private to users that created the video, this caused an uproar when JackP2006 released an asset pack that had the assets that were obtained with said exploit, causing people to harass the user who released the asset pack and the exploit was patched a week later.
  13. Lack of security features, you cannot change your password which makes your account at risk for hackers to hack your account, and there's no two-factor authentication. However, there's a workaround. You have to reset the account's password from the login page, in order to be able to change the password.
  14. Most of the badges are mostly impossible to get as you need views and recommendations on your videos, but since the site has been slowly dying as of 2024, the only to do it now is to promote your videos often.
  15. Plagiarism: The ban screen, uses stolen code from one of Roblox's old ban screens albeit being sightly modified.
  16. Email verification does not work, meaning certain badges that need the email verification are unobtainable.
  17. You can't also delete your account, despite what the privacy policy said. Meaning they are likely collecting your data just to sell it off later. Which is a violation of privacy. ItsJay, the developer of the site himself even admitted that the privacy policy was fake this whole time, just to trick web hosts and users. While lying about not collecting data, and cleaning user data off their servers. Again, considering the privacy policy was a facade, this shows that they have no concern about people's privacy. Causing them to move back to Wrapper Offline. Despite claiming they delete user data, it's actually a different story. They rename the account to [Content Deleted], and change the password to random gibberish. The email to the account is still intact, as the user can still reset the account's password.
  18. As of now, there are still only two Quick Video Makers and there is no sign of any future QVMs being released. This has caused people to upload the assets onto the Community Library.

So these are the reasons why FlashThemes needs to shut down
