Wildlife conservationists have expressed concern over the clearing of almost 44 hectares of forest land, which is home to around 45 Asiatic lions, to construct Bhakt Kavi Narsinh Mehta University (BKNMU) at Junagarh in Odisha's Kalahandi district.
The university has also issued a tender notice for Rs 7.23 lakh to invite bids to cut down forest on the outer areas of Girnar Wildlife Sanctuary, the abode of close to 45 Asiatic lions. Khadia village is located in the sanctuary's eco-sensitive zone (ESZ), which has restrictions on construction activities.
I saw this news today morning and im wondering how is this permission granted on what basis,is it to destroy our nations pride which are our animals?
Im really worried about the animals in this forest,we ourselves disturb these animals home and when they come back to their home,we kill them telling they destroyed our property or killed one of our brother or sister. It happened recently in Bangalore school though.
Ya i do worry about animals dwelling in this forest and the people living in Khadi village, they will be the first victims...
Friends these animals cannot talk, let us plead for their sake. Please stop this cruelty towards animals, please conserve our forests.
