The decisional independence of immigration judges needs to be protected from political pressures. As indicated by Judge Dana Leigh Marks in the following video clip -- Is DOJ Punishing Judges for Fair Immigration Hearings?, immigration judges need a guarantee of judicial independence to ensure that political pressures are not affecting the way that judges are allowed to carry out their role.
