Rowan School is considering joining NEXUS a multi-academy trust (MAT).

The majority of staff at Rowan School are opposed to academisation. We love our nurturing school and are proud that we are rated Outstanding by Ofsted.

Leaving the Local Authority would be an irreversible decision.

Rowan School would cease to exist as a separate entity and would just be one branch of NEXUS. 

It is important for current and future generations to ensure the right decision is made.

We’d like the schools to answer these questions:

What are the advantages of joining a multi-academy trust for:

Pupils’ educational experience and results?

School finances and money for pupils?

Staff pay, conditions and retention?

Accountability to parents and the wider community?

Protection from takeover by another academy chain?

Protecting community land and assets for future generations?

Why not await the outcome of the Parliamentary Inquiry into multi-academy trusts before making this major decision?
