Say NO to The Low Traffic Neighbourhood Scheme in West Ham Park

Say NO to The Low Traffic Neighbourhood Scheme in West Ham Park
The Issue
As residents, workers, and individuals connected to West Ham park, we are deeply concerned about the proposed implementation of the Low Traffic Neighbourhood Scheme. We believe that these changes will negatively impact our community in several significant ways.
Primarily, we fear that the pollution levels will rise. According to the Environmental Defence Fund, traffic restrictions often displace rather than reduce emissions which can create "hot spots" of air pollution. This could pose a health risk to our community members.
Additionally, we anticipate increases in journey times in and out of the design area, notably Romford Road, Vicarage Lane, Upton Lane, and Portway. This could lead to higher fuel consumption, adding to the already exacerbated pollution levels, as well as creating traffic jams. The ensuing frustration may contribute to increased incidences of road rage, making our roads less safe.
Furthermore, the daily lives of our community members could be negatively impacted, with the potential to affect both physical and mental health. Those most affected would be our elderly and people living with disabilities who are reliant on carers.
We therefore ask the Council to reconsider this plan and to cease the implementation of the Low Traffic Neighbourhood Scheme in West Ham park, before these potentially disastrous consequences come to pass.
