Say No to Proposed Extending 10 years Settlement & 15 years Citizenship Waiting Periods.

Say No to Proposed Extending 10 years Settlement & 15 years Citizenship Waiting Periods.
The Issue
"We Demand Fair Immigration Policies: Say No to Extending Settlement and Citizenship Waiting Periods!"
As immigrants living in the UK, we are launching this campaign to raise our voices against the new immigration policies that have recently been proposed and will deeply impact our lives. The strict rules suggested by Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch, such as extending the waiting period for indefinite leave to remain (ILR) to 10 years and citizenship to 15 years, represent an approach that is not only harsh but also contrary to human rights.
This proposal will make it harder for immigrants to integrate into society, tear families apart, and harm the diversity of the UK. As immigrants, we contribute to this country economically, socially, and culturally. However, such harsh measures will only serve to marginalize us further, rather than fostering a cohesive society.
Why Should You Support This Campaign?
Contrary to Human Rights: Requiring a 15-year wait for citizenship is a violation of people's fundamental rights. Immigrants are also part of this society and deserve to be treated fairly.
Families Will Be Torn Apart: Extended waiting periods will make family reunification more difficult and could lead to the separation of thousands of families. Children may be separated from their parents and spouses from each other.
Economic Contributions Are Ignored: Immigrants make significant contributions to the UK economy. However, conditions such as not receiving state benefits or not using social housing will disproportionately affect low-income immigrants.
Unemployment Issues Remain Unaddressed: While unemployment remains a problem in the UK, imposing conditions like "net contribution" on immigrants is not a realistic solution. Without increasing job opportunities, such demands will only make life harder for immigrants.
Lives Are Being Sacrificed for Political Gain: This proposal by the Conservative Party is aimed at winning back voter support in response to the anti-immigration rhetoric of the Reform Party. However, people's lives should not be sacrificed for political interests.
What Do We Want?
Maintain Current Waiting Periods: The existing rules, such as 5 years for indefinite leave to remain and 1 year for citizenship, should be preserved.
Fair and Humane Immigration Policies: Policies that facilitate the integration of immigrants into society, support family reunification, and respect human rights should be adopted.
Economic and Social Support: Support for immigrants' basic needs, such as employment, housing, and education, should be increased.
Prioritize Human Rights Over Political Interests: Immigrants should not be victimized for political gain.
