Say NO to New “America-First” Entrance Fees for National Parks

The Issue

National parks are meant to inspire wonder—not division. But starting in 2026, the U.S. Department of the Interior plans to more than triple entrance fees for international visitors, forcing them to pay $100 per person (plus standard entrance fees) or $250 for a new “non-resident” annual pass.

Meanwhile, U.S. residents continue to pay just $80 for full access.

The department calls this an “America-first” pricing policy. We call it what it is: unfair, exclusionary, and deeply un-American.

To make matters worse, the new 2026 passes will include politicized designs, like a commemorative Trump-and-Washington pass, and new “patriotic fee-free days” that apply only to U.S. residents—including Trump’s birthday.

While claiming to support conservation, this administration has gutted park staff, defunded environmental programs, opened protected lands to drilling, and slashed park budgets. Now it’s demanding foreign travelers pay the price.

This isn’t about protecting nature. It’s about creating division and profiting off the illusion of nationalism.

We believe:

  • National parks should be open and affordable for everyone, no matter where they’re from
  • Conservation should be funded by real investment, not discriminatory fees
  • U.S. public lands should be a symbol of global cooperation, not political branding
  • No one should be excluded from enjoying these landscapes based on citizenship.

We call on the U.S. Department of the Interior and Congress to immediately reverse this “America-first” pricing scheme and uphold the values these parks were founded on—openness, access, and preservation for all.

If you believe that public lands are for everyone, not just citizens with the right passport, sign and share this petition. Nature should welcome, not divide.
