The Issue

Access To Social Media Should Not Have Under 13s Right? But It Should Not Require Digital ID or A Face Scan To Use Social Media To prove Your 16, and this is why we are drawing a hard line. Instead of privacy-destroying ID mandates, we need better protections:

  1. No social media for anyone under the age of 13, except that all social media platforms must have privacy by default, along with strict privacy by default standards for anyone under 16 and under 18.
  2. Teen account parental controls.
  3. Privacy by default across the board.
  4. Followers or friends only DMs.
  5. No easy social media access for anyone under 13 under point 1, unless a parent explicitly decides you can be on YouTube or similar platforms if under 13.

According to Fortune, the U.K. moved to ban social media for kids under 16, and Zigazoo's founder has publicly cheered it on, claiming the U.S. is next. In reality? If state legislatures and opportunistic lobbyists try to push sweeping youth bans, mandatory age checks, or bad internet restriction bills—such as ongoing overreaches in places like California—groups like NetChoice and civil liberties advocates are ready to challenge them in federal court under First Amendment protections.

Zigazoo and corporate lobbyists are pushing for a toxic system of age verification, bad social media bans, and heavy-handed state internet bills where:

  • A 16-year-old is old enough to drive a car or get a job, yet gets locked out of normal web platforms, forums, and informational sites unless they hand over a biometric face scan, government ID, or digital tracking token.
  • State-enforced internet restrictions, mandatory age-verification walls, and poorly drafted digital safety bills are weaponized as a backdoor corporate growth hack to eliminate mainstream competition.
  • Corporate lobbyists use child safety as a marketing stunt to build a permanent digital surveillance state that destroys online anonymity and privacy for every single user, adults and minors alike.

We are drawing a hard line and demanding three critical actions from the tech industry and lawmakers:

  1. Tell Zigazoo We Oppose Age Checks & Social Media Bans: Stop lobbying for government-mandated age verification, youth blocks, and state censorship.
  2. Tell Meta and Other Companies We Oppose It: Make it clear to major tech players that we reject digital ID checkpoints and surveillance tools, no matter who is trying to implement them.
  3. Amplifying Our Voice: This petition serves as our unified message—No to lobbying for bad internet bills, no to mandatory biometric scans, and no to destroying internet freedom.

What you need to do:

  1. Spread the Word: Share this petition to expose how corporate lobbying fuels digital ID checkpoints and privacy-killing age checks.
  2. Call Your Representatives: If you're in the U.S., call your senators to vote no on this! If you're in your region, tell your local representatives that you strongly oppose bad state-level internet bills and social media bans, and demand they vote NO on mandatory age-verification legislation.
  3. Send This to Your Families: Warn your loved ones about why mandatory ID checks and state internet overreaches are a massive threat to everyone's digital privacy
