Save Zeke’s DIY

Save Zeke’s DIY
The Issue
Please help us save Zeke’s DIY… (Strictly looking for signatures here not funds.) Zeke’s was started during covid by local skaters with a little help from unemployment and stimulus checks. Grindline skateparks came to town last year to build the new Westpark and those guy/gals have such a deep love for skateboarding and building that they couldn’t help but continue adding to Zeke’s after work and on their days off. Largely on their own dime. The abandoned foundation which Zeke’s occupies is a small piece of the much larger Petrochem superfund site which was recently purchased by Holdfast Collective a non-profit established by Patagonia to manage the companies ownership. Holdfast intends to hand the property over to the Ventura Land Trust to rehabilitate and preserve the area, ensuring it won’t be developed in the future. While nothing is certain, there are people at Holdfast sympathetic to the skaters cause and there may be an opportunity if we can prove skateboarders have had a positive impact on the area that the DIY can be left alone and hopefully eventually gain some kind legit approval from the city/county. While this will take a lot more then just a bunch signature’s we hope this can be a good first step in showing the park has support from both the local community and from skateboards all over.
