Vote Robert McGUIN X - Save Tolson Museum- Thursday 13th August

Bernard McGuinHuddersfield, ENG, United Kingdom
Aug 12, 2026

On Thursday 13th August, Almondbury Ward residents will vote for their next Councillor. I, Robert McGUIN will be on the ballot paper and I ask for your Vote to try and Save Tolson Museum from closure. I have campaigned alongside my Father EX Almondbury Ward Councillor Bernard McGUIN for over a decade to save Tolson Museum from closure. We are the only ones with an active petition signed by over 4,438 local residents and predominantly on social media, sadly Tolson Museum is due to close for good soon with what seems no plan in place, just an empty building left to rot. Please view and share our latest video clip for what is at stake on Thursday https://www.facebook.com/reel/1782137553230510

8 days ago, I have sent a personal letter and an email to the Reform Kirklees Council Leader in which I have yet to receive a response. I have told the Council Leader that over 4,000 local residents have expressed their opinion that Tolson Musuem should remain open and asked questions on your behalf of what the future holds for Tolson Musuem as it is currently due to close it's doors for good and their doesn't appear to be a plan in place for it's future use, so Tolson Museum currently will be just left to wrack and ruin.

As a Friend of Tolson & Ravensknowle Museum member, this Election gives an opportunity for local residents to Elect a Councillor to represent Almondbury Ward who will champion in the local community and at Huddersfield Town Hall to stop the current plan of Tolson Musuem closing for good. As Tolson Musuem sit's in Almondbury Ward, we need someone who will be vocal for Almondbury Ward, Huddersfield, work with  local residents and the wider community to campaign to Save Tolson Museum.

That is why I announced after careful consideration that I will be putting myself forward as a Candidate for the Almondbury Ward By Election. Working with Bernard McGuin and local residents over the years I have the knowledge and experience to continue the fight to the very end to Save Tolson Museum.

Thank you to local residents who have signed this petition to save Tolson Museum from closure. Please continue to share this petition with friends and family on social media www.change.org/p/save-tolson-museum-huddersfield .

Leigh Tolson gifted Ravensknowle Hall to Huddersfield over 100 years ago in memory of his 2 nephews, brothers Robert Tolson & James Tolson, who were killed in First World War.

Please support Friends of Tolson and Ravensknowle where you can. In the Memorial Garden at 2pm, Sundown Swing will be performing on Sunday August 16th.

P.S Time is running out to save Tolson Museum from closure, please continue to share this petition to show that Tolson Museum should be saved from closure & Vote for me on Robert McGUIN on Thursday to fight to Save Tolson Museum from closure.

Thank You

Robert McGUIN - Almondbury Ward Cllr Candidate & Bernard McGuin
