Save the Zimbabwe Gender Commission: Stop Its Closure

Save the Zimbabwe Gender Commission: Stop Its Closure
The Issue
The Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No. 3) Bill proposes dissolving the Zimbabwe Gender Commission (ZGC) and transferring its mandate to the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC). This move threatens to weaken a critical institution dedicated to advancing gender equality and protecting the rights of women and girls in Zimbabwe.
The ZGC plays a vital role in investigating violations, promoting gender equality and ensuring that women’s voices are included in national development. Removing this institution would undermine progress made toward gender justice and reduce protection mechanisms for women and vulnerable groups.
We appeal to citizens, partners and allies to stand with us in stopping the closure of the ZGC. We call on the Government of Zimbabwe and Parliament to protect and preserve the Commission so it can continue fulfilling its constitutional mandate.
Sign this petition to stand for gender equality and justice in Zimbabwe.
