The Bayeux Tapestry ("Bae Tap Tap") tells one of the most important stories in English history.

It depicts the Norman Conquest of England, a moment that changed our nation forever.

It therefore deserves to remain in the United Kingdom.

1. It will be safer. The British Museum is one of the world's leading institutions for preserving priceless historical artefacts. It has the expertise, facilities and security needed to protect the tapestry for generations to come.
2. Millions more people will be able to see it. The British Museum welcomes around six million visitors every year, many times more than the museum in Bayeux. Keeping the tapestry in London would make it accessible to a far wider international audience, ensuring its story reaches as many people as possible.
3. It was made by the English . Although it commemorates William's victory, the tapestry was almost certainly embroidered in England by English artisans working under Norman rule. It was made by English hands, tells the story of England, and forms an essential part of our shared national heritage.
