We are calling on Catholic Charities of Chicago to keep the North Center Senior Satellite Center at 4040 N. Oakley Ave. open and operating at its current location.

For more than 16 years, this Senior Satellite Center has served as a hub within the surrounding North Center senior campus, an area that already supports thousands of older adults through housing, healthcare, recreation, and social services. This location is critical: many seniors rely on its accessibility, familiarity, and proximity to other daily services to remain active and independent.

Catholic Charities, the long-time operator of the Senior Satellite Center and the owner of 4040 N. Oakley Ave., ended its contract with DFSS at the start of 2026 and will stop providing services by March 31st, 2026.

The City’s Department of Family & Support Services has identified another organization—Metropolitan Family Services—to provide similar services beginning on April 1st. However, Catholic Charities does not want to make 4040 N. Oakley Ave. available to provide these critical services for seniors across our North Center community and beyond.

By signing this petition, you are calling for the following commitments: 

1. DFSS to contract with Metropolitan Family Services or another service provider before March 31st, 2026, ensuring no gap in operations or services; and
2. Catholic Charities of Chicago to support 4040 N. Oakley Ave. remaining an active senior center, whether under their continued operation or through a new provider.
