A proposal will come before Penticton city council on Tuesday April 1st for vote to face-lift Nanaimo square. The proposal is in hopes of attracting more shoppers and guests and discouraging low income and homeless loitering. 

We are at risk of losing Penticton's beloved fish fountain and the beautiful tree that provides shade and green space in a concrete square. 

Some of us believe that there has not been enough discussion about this topic with the taxpayers, nor that it is a viable solution for unwanted behavior in the square. Many of us want to preserve our historical landmark, and would like to have a say in how our taxes are used to "beautify" Nanaimo Square.
