Youtube video of .. Heat Vision And Jack : The Pilot Episode - Recorded On a VCR with a camcorder

We, the undersigned, are passionate fans of Heat Vision and Jack, the legendary 1999 television pilot created by Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab, starring Jack Black as the hyper-intelligent astronaut Jack Austin and Owen Wilson as his talking motorcyce, Heat Vision. This unique and visionary show, though never given a full season, has remained a cult favorite for decades.

Despite its short-lived existence, Heat Vision and Jack has maintained a dedicated fanbase that continues to grow thanks to the internet and its undeniable comedic brilliance. With modern streaming platforms reviving classic and cult series, we believe the time is right to give Heat Vision and Jack the full season it always deserved.

I want this show to get picked up now, 20 years later. They don’t change any of the old introductions or transitions and just never acknowledge the fact that everyone is 20 years older. Cut to 20 years later: Jack is still on the run, and Ron Silver died on a mission tracking him down. Silver’s son, John Silver (played by Keanu Reeves), blames Jack for his father’s death. At the end of the first episode, John finds Jack in a small town under his new identity as Glenn, the local vacuum repairman. Heat Vision is living in the repair shop and helps Jack escape town to find the only other person they can trust—the sheriff.

This project was almost revived in 2014; apparently, Rob Schrab and Dan Harmon worked on an animated series adaptation, but Harmon backed out, saying, "It would be like Bob’s Burgers but with a bike," so it was never made. A darn shame if you ask me!

Heat Vision and Jack was created as a 1999 pilot for Fox. Written by Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab, directed by Ben Stiller, this series was passed over despite critical acclaim from those lucky enough to have seen it. The 30-minute pilot follows an astronaut (Jack Black) with a medical secret, who is on the run from the evil Ron Silver and NASA, with the help of his talking motorcycle, Heat Vision (Owen Wilson).

This show needs to be brought to life in all of its B-grade glory! Change nothing, keep the graphics as they are, and embrace the absurdity. Not to mention the incredible cameos and big names in small roles—Ben Stiller as the strip club DJ! If I had one show I could bring to life before I die, it would be Heat Vision & Jack. The perfect blend of Schrab and Harmon humor. Also, the perfect role for Jack Black. Probably the funniest pilot ever made.

I also love the story Dan Harmon tells on the Harmontown podcast about Heat Vision & Jack—when he and his then-girlfriend both had TV pilots in development. He was sure Heat Vision & Jack would get picked up, while hers wouldn’t. Her pilot? Malcolm in the Middle. After hers got picked up and Heat Vision & Jack got canned, he broke up with her. Classic.

If I had a nickel for every time Owen Wilson voiced a talking vehicle, I’d only have two, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

Please join us in signing this petition to show that Heat Vision and Jack still has a place in today’s entertainment landscape. Let’s make this happen!
