Save the Heart of Huskisson, Jervis Bay, NSW

The issue

Please sign our urgent appeal to bring the centre of Huskisson's unique coastal block with it's iconic outlook into public ownership before it's sold and built on.

Jervis Bay is internationally famous for its unspoilt natural beauty, and the view of the creek and beach from the main street is a heart stopper and a major drawcard for the whole region. But now the block is going up for sale by tender* on the 1st December, and a buyer could potentially develop a three storey (11 metre) building in this spot - so we must act now!

We urgently need your support to ask Shoalhaven City Council, State and Federal Government to take all action available and help find the funds to preserve Huskisson's signature scenic appeal.

We ask you to join us in requesting that the land pictured be brought into public ownership and made into a community park or town square for the continued enjoyment of Jervis Bay's visitors and residents for generations to come. We will be collating public opinion and ideas about how you imagine this space in the future to inform this campaign.

Please be polite and respectful in your email.

Please follow our Facebook campaign, join the conversation on Twitter, and then share pics with the #savetheheartofhuskisson on Instagram

Come along to offer support and have your say at our community meeting 6pm, December 4th at Huskisson Community Centre, Dent Street, Huskisson

Thank you from the Heart of Huskisson Campaign Group

(a collaboration between Huskisson Woollamia Community Voice, Jervis Bay Tourism and Huskisson Chamber of Commerce)

*The land is owned by The Huskisson RSL, now called Club Jervis Bay and we acknowledge their right to fair market value.

Responded
I am very sympathetic to the objectives of the campaign, there is a need to be action to extend the pressure to the State Government as well, even though it has so far declined the opportunity to make a grant available to assist in the purchase of the land. Greg Watson
