Save the Country Centre for Adults with learning disabilities
The Issue
I'm writing this with a heavy heart but a hopeful spirit, as I am one of the many individuals who have been positively impacted by the Country Centre for Adults with Learning Disabilities in Northamptonshire. Since 1984, this cherished place has served as a sanctuary for individuals like me, providing not only essential services but a sense of belonging, community, and enrichment that is unmatched.
At the Country Centre, we engage in a variety of activities that bring joy and fulfillment to our lives. We care for animals, enjoy leisurely walks in nature, and express ourselves through arts and crafts. We participate in activities that challenge us cognitively like maths and quizzes, and also relish in shared moments over lunch, games, and team activities. This centre is more than just a day service provider; it is a home away from home, where the dedicated staff treat us with kindness, care, and respect, always ensuring our well-being.
The thought of this vital centre closing down is distressing, not just for me, but for all the individuals and families who rely on its services. Here, we have found more than friends; we have found a family, a supportive environment that uplifts us each day. The closure of such a facility would strip away our daily joy and the critical support that helps us live fulfilling lives.
Sadly, due to funding cuts and financial challenges, the Country Centre is at risk of closing. This would have a devastating impact on the community and leave many vulnerable adults without crucial support and companionship. Northamptonshire deserves to maintain such a pivotal service that enhances the quality of life for its residents with learning disabilities.
We believe that with enough signatures and support, we can urge local authorities and decision-makers to find a sustainable solution to keep our beloved centre open. Whether through alternative funding, partnerships, or community donations, there has to be a way to preserve this invaluable resource.
Please join us in fighting for the future of the Country Centre. Your signature can make all the difference and give a voice to the many who depend on this centre’s existence. Let's stand together and safeguard this beacon of hope and happiness for all who cherish it. Please sign the petition and help us save the Country Centre from closure.
