Save Stibbington Centre from closure!
The Issue
Are you a Stibbington Survivor? Did you visit and stay in one of the ‘animal’ bedrooms? Did you dress up for one of the history days? Did you study and develop your Geographical fieldwork schools?
Stibbington Centre has been recommended for closure in documents released this week. By Cambridgeshire County Council The children’s and young people’s committee, chaired by Bryony Goodliffe, will be meeting next Tuesday at 2pm. This leaves no time for people to support Stibbington and the importance for children’s well-being and outdoor learning experiences.
Cambridgeshire County Council’s strategic lead officer Ian Trafford, reviews existing education provision. Where is the evidence that the council have been to Stibbington to review the educational provision, other than looking at the financial statistics?
The Stamford and Rutland Mercury have reported that there are ten employed staff, many who have been there for a long-time providing top-quality educations.
Their twitter feed @stibb_centre shows some of the feedback that they receive, all top quality.
We send our children here to experience nights away from home, but close enough that we know we can go together. Our children remember these experiences for life. The impact that Stibbington has, isn’t just a school trip, the memories last a lifetime.
Share your memories and this petition so that the councillors can see how much of a lasting impact that Stibbington has had on people.
