The Issue

FAO:

Simon Smith (Director of Education, Diocese of Salford,

Bishop John Arnold (The Bishop of Salford),

Chris Foley (CEO, St Teresa of Calcutta Cathlic Academy Trust).

As parents and carers of pupils at St Cuthbert’s RC High School, we can no longer stay silent. Our children are trapped in the middle of a severe operational and well-being crisis. Due to a forced staffing restructure by the St Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Academy Trust, teachers have engaged in over 19 days of strike action(with more expected).

The environment inside the school has deteriorated rapidly. Our children are facing severe anxiety, a complete lack of learning routine, and a heavy reliance on supply staff.Instead of listening to us, the Trust has completely locked parents out. They dissolved the school's Local Governing Body on January 1st, removing all elected parent governors.

Because the Trust Board answers directly to the Salford Diocese, we have structured a formal legal appeal backed by Department for Education (DfE) guidelines to force the Diocese to take accountability as the trust's owners.

We are demanding:

  • Immediate reinstatement of parent representatives in our governance.
  • A mandatory face-to-face public forum with Trust CEO Chris Foley.
  • Active diocesan mediation to halt further damaging strike action.

The legal letter is ready to go, but we need the weight of the entire community behind it to ensure the Bishop cannot ignore us. Please sign, comment with your child's year group, and share this link widely
