Save Rich “The Eggman” Carlon’s Flock: Ask Suffield to Exempt 10-Chicken Limit
The Issue
For over two decades, Rich’s eggs have been a Suffield staple. For just $6, residents can purchase some of the freshest, highest quality eggs money can buy. Rich takes great pride in serving his community, and any surplus of eggs are donated to the senior center in town. We can all learn something from Rich about what it means to serve our community. Now, this long-standing livelihood and purpose for Rich is at risk. Following a complaint and enforcement from a new zoning officer, he has been told to reduce his flock to just 10 chickens by August 10th. This would effectively end the small egg operation he has maintained without issue for decades, long before this dispute arose. Rich is disabled after being injured in a work related accident. His flock is the only supplement to his disability pension, and the only remedy to his PTSD that he has found effective. He cannot go through the stress of an appeal. Please sign this petition asking the town of Suffield to reconsider the 10-chicken limit on his property and to work toward a solution that will allow Rich to keep his flock and serving the community. By forcing Rich to give up his chickens, Suffield is abandoning its status as a farm town. Please give back to a man who has done nothing but try to feed his neighbors, one egg at a time.
