Save Quaker Tapestry Museum

Save Quaker Tapestry Museum
The Issue
Please support this campaign to prevent the closure of the Quaker Tapestry Museum in Kendal.
There has been a recent proposal to permanently close The Quaker Tapestry Museum.
The museum has been the home for the tapestries for over 30 years.
The Quaker Tapestry Museum is an Internationally recognised, award-winning museum. In July the museum won the Cumbria Tourism Award 2025 in the category of Small Visitor Attraction.
Kendal’s Quaker Meeting House, which houses the museum, is a lively building used by the whole community for events, workshops and training sessions and it is still a place of worship for Quakers today. The place as we know and love it will end with the closure.
The museum has a dedicated team including qualified professionals who possess the skills and knowledge to take care of and conserve the panels, raising concerns about who will look after the panels if staff are made redundant.
If successful, it is hoped that the museum will remain open in Kendal so that there can be time to look into making the appropriate changes to secure the museum’s future.
The museum is at imminent risk of closing.
Please circulate this far and wide.

Please note that donations made through change.org do not go directly to the Quaker Tapestry Museum. It goes towards the upkeep of change.org
At the moment, any donations made specifically to the Quaker Tapestry Museum might not help to support the campaign to stop the closure and may be used for other "Quaker Tapestry projects" that do not involve the museum or its staff. Please think carefully before donating.
