Keep performing arts within our community and schools. Earlier today a former middle school teacher of mine reached out to me explaining how she had been de-staffed and her job had been reduced to part time. Because of this change there is a strong possibility of their not being a theatre program this upcoming school  year. A long with this message she also made it known an orchestra teacher is also leaving the school and last year a band teacher had left as well. It should be made well known that the school this teacher works at feeds into a school that has been known for strong performing art programs. Those programs are strong for many reasons one being kids come in from middle school with a foundation in theatre / band / orchestra. They come in ready for more advanced and challenging environments. If programs are lost not only will it affect the kids but the more advanced programs they are worked up to be in. Instead of kids being able to go straight into high school level productions they will be stunted and having to learn material they should have learned in 7th grade or earlier. Teachers quitting or being let go has been an issue in fairfax for a while. Please sign and help keep performing arts in schools.
