SAVE PEAKHURST MARKET

The issue

Peakhurst community & locals of Georges River council will be impacted by the decision to stop the trading of the deeply loved 'Peakhurst Farmers Market' that traded every Saturday morning from 8AM-1PM.

Peakhurst Market each Saturday provided a sense of community engagement and a place to pick up fresh, local produce from Australian farmers & producers. The market provided a place for food producers and consumers to connect directly in the buying & selling process, it offered something worthwhile: a chance to make a difference as you shop! With the running of markets, small businesses are supported whilst giving a chance for talent to grow & thrive within the community. Small business in fact are very important to economy as they provide more people with employment than any other employment type.

Parking, & congestion/traffic had become an apparent problem on the Saturday. Peakhurst was a small market with great onsite parking consisting of 80 car spaces inclusive of 30 stalls trading on the day. The flow of our market is constant allowing room for enough parking for everyone in the local surroundings.

Your friendly Saturday morning outing, of local produce & artisanal shopping, socialising with friends, family and locals will come to a stop! We cannot stress enough; WE NEED YOU, our community, to help gain the support from George’s River Council to assist us in finding another permissible site to commence the trade of Peakhurst Farmers Market ASAP! This beautiful Market needs a new home to aid & support all our previous small business owners & service the community like we once did.
