Parrie Haynes Ranch holds a special place in our hearts and our community. It stands as a legacy for the Texas orphans, left by Parrie Haynes to be a sanctuary where they could benefit from its vast open spaces and natural beauty. This treasured land has been a haven not just for them, but for equestrians, hikers, trail runners, and bikers who cherish the freedom and adventure it offers.

Cadence Bank, the trustee, is planning to sell Parrie Haynes Ranch to private investors, threatening to close its cherished public trails and spaces. This sale could mean that the ranch, which has been accessible to families, clubs, and individuals, will be lost to all who have depended on it for recreation and healing.

It's vital for us to band together and advocate for the preservation of the ranch for public use. By keeping Parrie Haynes Ranch open, we not only honor the wishes of Parrie Haynes but also ensure that countless others continue to experience its unique benefits.

Dear [Elected Official’s Name / Government Agency],
I am writing to express deep concern over the potential sale of Parrie Haynes Ranch by Cadence Bank, the trustee, to private investors. This sale would threaten public access to a cherished part of Texas history and natural heritage.
Parrie Haynes Ranch was willed to the State of Texas as a sanctuary for orphans—a place where vulnerable children could benefit from the healing power of nature. Over time, it has become a beloved recreational and educational space for equestrians, hikers, trail runners, families, and local organizations. Its open spaces, natural beauty, and accessibility have made it a vital resource for public wellness, community gatherings, and outdoor education.
The proposed sale to private interests would likely close the ranch’s trails and facilities to the public. Such a move contradicts the spirit of Parrie Haynes’ original intent and would represent a significant loss to the people of Texas, especially those in our rural and underserved communities.
We respectfully urge the State of Texas to:
1. Intervene to prevent the sale of Parrie Haynes Ranch to private investors.
2. Ensure the land remains accessible to the public for recreational and community use.
3. Explore conservation easements, state park designation, or transfer to a public agency or nonprofit that will honor the ranch’s legacy.
Parrie Haynes Ranch is more than just land—it is a symbol of compassion, healing, and community. Please help us protect it for future generations.
Sincerely,
