Save our schools!

The Issue

As many of you may be aware. Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust (DMAT) are having a consultation to reduce staffing levels and bring their spending down.

With there website statement being:

”On Monday 27th March 2023, we entered into a formal consultation process to review proposals, developed alongside our Board of Trustees, to restructure our teaching and support staff models. During the consultation we will meet with all potentially affected staff and recognised trade unions regarding the proposals. All proposed changes will be subject to the outcome of this process. These proposals were developed in recognition of wider funding challenges, and with the intention to ensure our structures are fit for purpose, meet the needs of our staff, and provide our students with the best possible educational experience.”

However in cold, hard reality, what they are proposing reducing the number of Teaching staff, Teaching Assistants, administration and other “non essential” support staff.

School Heads will have to manage more than one school on top of minimising staff.

We are a rural community, who relies on the schools to provide jobs for the community as well as good education and care for our children.

This has not been happening over the years and has only worsened since DMAT took control.

They have not been open in their communication with us the parents of the children involved in their schools.
Every decision being proposed is being hidden away from us. Teachers being sent letter but not allowed to speak to us. Finally we were sent an awful letter explaining the same as their online statement to try and appease us worried parents.

But these our, OUR childrens lives we are talking about. We deserve a voice too!

Its there futures. An education and a good start in life isn’t much to ask them.

We deserve to be involved in the conversation at least so we can try to resolve the balance sheet issues as well as the care and education issues present across the DMAT.

Please sign this petition to show your support for the staff at DMAT schools and above all, the children.
