The Issue

Dear Lenzie Residents. Your signature is requested to support Lenzie’s reputation as a sought after area of quality housing, sprinkled with green spaces and promoting  the mental and physical well-being derived  from a ‘village living’ experience for all residents and visitors alike.

You will know that our previously well tended green spaces are now overgrown and unsightly as a result of the EDC decision in April 2025 to cease maintenance of local land areas EDC did not own.   This is despite maintaining the exact same land areas for over 45 years whilst actual ownership was with the Vistry Group (formerly Bovis Ltd!).

Ownership changed in 2023. From this time the Orchard Park areas were bought by Fleming  Buildings Ltd and Laxton Drive areas by a private individual.

In a FOI request in October 2022 assurances were given in writing by an EDC Official that ‘The Council currently has no plans to change the maintenance schedules relating to amenity space within this area.’

Lenzie residents outside the specific areas affected at this time may wish to note that EDC is rumoured to be considering extending this policy of not maintaining green spaces across Lenzie.  Additionally the current areas affected include a main access road which gives visitors a very poor initial impression of the whole area!

What can we DO?
Assessing community appetite for action is critical.

So  IF YOU care about our local green spaces and wish EDC to resume maintenance with immediate effect please sign and share this petition.
