The Issue

For 16 years, as revenue protection inspectors, we have dedicated ourselves tirelessly to maintaining and safeguarding revenue for Transport for Wales. Our commitment, expertise, and loyalty have ensured the financial security that supports the services necessary for communities across Wales. However, as our contract comes to an end in April 2026, we face the unsettling reality that Transport for Wales is not bringing us in-house, despite having done so for other contractors. This disparity in treatment is not only unfair but disregards the consistent service we have provided.

Our role is pivotal in ensuring that ticket revenues are accurately collected, which in turn funds the very infrastructure and services the Welsh public relies on daily. Transitioning revenue protection inspectors to in-house roles is a practice upheld and valued by other transport bodies, acknowledging the essential nature of our work in protecting public funds. By choosing not to take us in-house, Transport for Wales risks losing skilled personnel who have deep institutional knowledge and are passionately committed to the mission.

The protection and management of revenue are integral to ensuring the sustainability and quality of transport services. Bringing revenue protection inspectors in-house would secure this crucial resource, enhancing accountability and efficiency while nurturing a workforce already aligned with the company's goals and ethos.

We call upon Transport for Wales to reconsider their stance and take decisive action by incorporating us—revenue protection inspectors—into their team officially. This is not only a fair choice but a forward-looking decision that honours years of service and secures the ongoing integrity of revenue protection.

Please support our cause and help us appeal to Transport for Wales by signing this petition. Your signature can make a significant difference for us and for all who depend on the reliability and efficiency of Welsh transport services. Together, let’s ensure that dedicated professionals who have long stood by this public service are recognized and treated equitably.
