SAVE MORRISONS BATHWICK — PROTECT LOCAL JOBS AND COMMUNITY ACCESS

Petition Statement

We, the undersigned residents, customers, workers, and supporters of the Bathwick community, strongly oppose the planned closure of the Morrisons supermarket in Bathwick.

This store is far more than just a supermarket. It is an essential local service relied upon by families, elderly residents, people without easy transport, and many others in the local area. It also provides important local jobs and supports the wider community.

The announced closure has caused significant concern among staff and residents who fear the impact it will have on:

Local employment

Elderly and vulnerable residents

Access to affordable food shopping

People without cars or reliable transport

The strength and wellbeing of the Bathwick community

Many residents rely on having a supermarket within easy reach. Losing the store would leave a major gap in local services and would negatively affect daily life for many people.

We believe Morrisons should:

Reconsider the decision to close the Bathwick store

Fully consult staff, customers, and the local community

Be transparent about the reasons for closure

Explore alternative solutions before permanently shutting the store

Protect jobs and community access wherever possible

Bathwick deserves access to essential local services, and workers deserve fairness, respect, and proper consultation.

Many staff and customers are particularly shocked by the closure announcement because the Bathwick store has shown clear improvements over the past six months.
Staff have worked extremely hard to improve standards across the store, and this has been noticed by customers and reflected in store performance.
Compared with the same period last year:
Sales have increased
Product availability has improved significantly
The store has become cleaner, tidier, and better presented
Shop-floor standards and facing-up have improved greatly
Customer experience and service standards have noticeably improved
Staff have made a major effort to create a welcoming and well-run store that the local community can be proud of.
Many employees feel these positive improvements should be recognised and properly considered before any final closure decision is made.
Customers have also commented positively on the changes and improvements in recent months, making the closure announcement even more disappointing for the local community.

We call on Morrisons leadership, local councillors, MPs, and community leaders to support efforts to keep Morrisons Bathwick open.

Please sign and share this petition to help protect our local community.
