The system protects abusers more than survivors — and I lived that.

Help create the SAFE registry, because abuse doesn’t start with death, and it doesn’t end with a police report. It ends when enough people say: let’s save one more life.

I survived it, and I’m still paying the cost.

He had a long history of violence. But none of it appeared when I searched. Not even the near murder that would have ended in death without intervention.

Because nothing flagged that previous incident, neither I nor the responding officer had any clear indication that the danger I faced was among the highest it could be. Given the gap it gave us, it is even more of a miracle that I am alive. Especially because I saw near death in the face & didn’t remember enough, in order for it to make it onto the report. 

Since then, I’ve read many stories and seen these gaps over and over in other cases. A large percentage of homicides happen after the first police report. Because of multiple different gaps - that the SAFE registry is designed to fill - it is costing lives. For whatever reason, I am alive to speak, and I feel the weight of speaking. Please join this fight to protect people in the absolute worst moments of their lives. You can help prevent harm before it happens; by giving both victims and those protecting them, access to violent histories for informed, preventative decisions.

 • 1,500 people are killed by a partner every year in the U.S.  

• 75 million adults in America are survivors of domestic violence

The SAFE registry is designed to innovate and change this. 

Victims are up to 75% more likely to be killed when they try to leave or seek legal protection. In many areas, up to 80% of domestic violence cases are never prosecuted. Not because the reports were false, but because victims are intimidated, silenced, or told: “There’s not enough proof.”

Then the abuser is free to re-abuse. And their next victim may never know — until it’s too late.

Studies show that without intervention, abusers are likely to reoffend within 6–12 months — especially when charges are dropped or never prosecuted. With every new offense, the risk of homicide skyrockets.

✅ The Solution: 

That’s why we need the SAFE Registry — a national, federal tool that quietly flags verified abuse history.

1. Surfaces verified danger so responders see the real risk — even if victims can’t recall or share every detail.
2. Reduces reliance on victim testimony alone, making it harder for abusers to manipulate outcomes.
3. Triggers immediate protective steps in every physical abuse case such as, but not limited to, automatic connection to domestic violence advocate, recommendation for emergency PFA and how to file, removal of abuser, etc to avoid misinterpretation of danger.
4. Closes the gap between report and conviction, to reduce abusers' ability to use control over the victim and the outcome. Builds in protection measures now, with room to add more as needed.

This tool is NOT built on accusations. It’s based on serious, documented filings like:  

• A granted PFA backed by police involvement or verification of harm (with built in protections for victims not having enough proof and to avoid abuser retaliation)  

• A police report involving physical injury, weapon use, threats to kill, visible harm, violent events, or anything that would grant a PFA  

• A court-ordered protective action after reviewing evidence

If both parties file claims or a claim seems retaliatory, it would trigger a deeper review before a flag is ever applied. This protects survivors from being flagged by the person abusing them — and ensures that only serious, supported cases are visible in the SAFE Registry.

 • Protects others from becoming survivors by showing verified abuse history early

 • Protects against re-abuse as survivors begin dating again

False reporting is rare. Only 2–10% of DV allegations are false — and a single flag is not a conviction. It’s a signal to pause and ask more questions. If proven false, it can be removed.

🔒 Misuse Prevention:  

• All flags must be tied to a real case ID, an issuing agency, and the legal action taken  

• System to be operated by police and court and on a federal level like Megan’s Law.   

• Personal and legal data isn’t publicly available. It would be a public search system such as the visual on the bottom of this page.

The SAFE Registry wouldn’t replace due process — it would help protect people before it’s too late.

There are many, many people asking for a domestic violence registry. Specifically, after a loved one's life was lost, there shouldn't have to be more deaths before we make this happen.
