With only 15 days left in the 30 day public comment period, Shark Stewards has launched a "Voices of Extinction" series to help generate attention to the proposed stripping of the Endangered Species Act. Characters represent species that have recovered due to protection provided under the ESA, like Diego the Brown Pelican protected under the ESA and is now thriving, or Maria the Humpback Whale whose population is now recovering from large scale whaling. Other species like the Southern Sea Otter and Soupfin shark are on the edge, and could go extinct if the ESA is weakened.

99% of species listed under the ESA have survived since the Act was implemented in 1973, demonstrating the effectiveness of this law. There are numerous threats facing our marine wildlife, but industrial development is one of the most imminent if protections from harm are removed.

Please share the voices of extinction-starting with Eloise the Sea Otter- how the ESA had helped this keystone species survive- and how the weakening of the ESA proposed by USFWS could cause their extinction.
