Endangered Species Act at Risk- Give Your Voice
Directed by the Trump Administration, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and National Marine Fisheries Service have proposed to dismantle protections to the Endangered Species Act (ESA), including the Blanket Rule that automatically shields threatened wildlife from harm. Other amendments regarding the definition of harm, and the protection of critical habitat are also proposed.
This could have devastating impacts on oceanic whitetips, hammerheads and other species. If these proposals pass, a species listed as "Threatened" will no longer receive automatic protection- like the newly-listed soupfin (tope) shark.
Call to Action: How You Can Help Protect the ESA. DEADLINE to COMMENT DECEMBER 22

For over 50 years, the ESA has been the lifeline for America’s most vulnerable wildlife. It’s the law that stops threatened species from being killed, protects the places they need to survive, and forces federal agencies to put science before politics. Because of the ESA, animals once on the brink of extinction were given a second chance, like our whales, otters, condors, and sea turtle friends who all benefited under the ESA.
That is why we launched our new Voices of Extinction campaign. We are mobilizing to flood the USFWS with public comments and sending our team directly to Washington D.C. to lobby the Department of the Interior and Congress against these rollbacks.
We’ve seen what the ESA can do when it has teeth. Read about positive results from the ESA in this graphic series.

Voices of Extinction- a Youth Campaign to Give Voice to Endangered Species
This year we received devastating news. A major portion of Shark Stewards’ government funding was abruptly cut — support that helped fuel our science, advocacy, and education work.
Almost overnight, we went from doing this work with reliable government backing to facing the largest rollback of wildlife law in decades with fewer resources than ever before. We avoided asking during Giving Tuesday, but for us, this is not just a fundraising moment; it is a critical lifeline.
We must raise $10,000 to send our team to Washington, D.C., defend the ESA, and amplify the voices of species who cannot speak for themselves. Thanks to support from the Ignite Foundation we are developing the voices of youth to speak for wildlife and Save Endangered Sharks.
Silence is not an option. When they try to silence us, we fight back… louder.
Time is short. Please act now and add your voice for the sharks and other endangered marine wildlife.
