Government backs WAKA KOTAHI-NZTA/AT to destroy the whole Drury Community Shopping Centre to widen a measly 400m of new road!  They could easily have widened the opposite side of Waihoehoe Road where there is minimum business impact and includes government owned wasteland which they just plan to plant up in trees!  Instead, they choose to obliterate a popular shopping centre crucial to the Drury Community which services about 10,000 customers a week!

Our stressed-out business owners and customers have to suffer the loss of well patronized community minded shops because the faceless bureaucrats refuse to listen to common sense.

We have appealed to Simeon Brown who has the power as Minister of Transport to do something, but he is too busy to take the time to meet with us as invited and he just referred us back to WAKA KOTAHI NZTA/AT who are the perpetrators of the whole situation so would be a waste of time.

WKNZTAAT have held community information meetings, yes, but no mention of destroying the Drury Shopping Centre was made public.  Most people did not have a clue until a petition started 1 September 2023 grabbed their attention.  Since then, more than 12,596 people have signified anger and concern at this decision.

There has been no tv news coverage of this devastating event.
