I think that getting rid of DesertTortoise.gov is the wrong thing to do. It's the best government website that I've ever visited (have you ever seen the FAFSA student loan sites? They look like they were designed in the AOL era of the 90's). Not only does DesertTortoise.gov provide important information for those of us that care about wildlife, it shows us how important each and every species is. Rather than throwing away this valuable resource the government should be putting more thought into protecting the environment and creating more websites like DesertTortoise.gov.
The people involved with the new government spending policies are
Jeffery Zients and Jacob Lew of the Office of Management and Budget.
