Blight land is the most obvious obstruction Cottonfields Community should be concerned about while connected to the Southern Ridge Golf Course via REMA agreement.

Cottonfields Community Homeowners should be asking the Cottonfields Community Association’s Attorney what does this mean and what is the potential consequences that could result from city noncompliance.

If you think the city is not going to enforce compliance of 140 acres blight land surrounding Cottonfields Community then you’re wrongly mistaken. Once the violations begin to pile up is when ownership will be forced to comply or begin paying violation fines.

If ownership can’t afford to pay violation fines eventually owner files for bankruptcy protection and is forced to walk away from the property due to a lack of resources to comply. This is exactly what happened to a previous owner. If owner doesn’t file for bankruptcy the owner will sell the property then walk away. We’ve already been through this before.

How long do you think the city is willing to continue to go along with this process at the Southern Ridge Golf Course and Cottonfields Community before the city finally decides they’re coming in to rezone to permanently fix the problem? I’ve read on social media some of you think that will never happen! Really?

Just because there’s a document in place stipulating the golf course land must stay a park, green space or golf course means nothing once the city has had enough of the blight land destruction. They can come in and say you people haven’t taken care of the land and now we are taking over. Simple as that. Then what? Google search what “Eminent Domain” means.

Let’s say that happens, what is Cottonfields Community Association going to do about it? Drain the Cottonfields Community Association’s reserve funds to battle the city and government in court? And you think a Judge is going to side with you while there’s been dead/blight land surrounding the community for 5+ year's now?
