Save Baxter's Court 

The announcement that Wetherspoons are putting Baxter's Court on the market has sent shock waves through the Hackney community.

Baxter's Court is far more than just another Wetherspoons pub - it is a valued community assett. 

In an increasingly costly and gentrified environment, Baxter's is an oasis - a lifeline 
for many hard working people who are otherwise  priced out of the majority of pubs and cafès in the local area.

Baxter's is a community hub that caters for a wide range of people, from elderly residents who rely on the affordable food, drinks and company, to young folks out on social gatherings or birthday celebrations, all kinds of people gather and mingle at Baxter's Court.

The staff team are friendly, helpful and caring and a very strong sense of community marks Baxter's Court out as a highly important meeting place for many different groups of people.

This petition is our collective appeal to Wetherspoons management to reconsider their decision and keep Baxter's Court as a valued and treasured assett in the heart of Hackney.

Edit: well it now appears that our petition failed and Wetherspoons have gone ahead and sold our beloved Baxter's Court.

It will be closed from early November leaving our community out in the cold. The thousands of people who frequent this valued community venue have basically been given the cold shoulder by the management of Wetherspoons.

We can only hope that the new owners value our custom and return the pub to its rightful place in the heart of our close-knit community.
